NASA honoured the renowned actor with an image shaped to look like the outline of Mufasa, a beloved character he lent his voice to in the popular '94 movie The Lion King. "Today, we look up at the stars and remember the great James Earl Jones. As Mufasa, he reminded us that those stars will always be there to guide us," the caption read.
The actor's father Robert Earl Jones, who started his career in 1939, paved the way to Hollywood for him. He was seen in movies like The Sting, Lying Lips, Witness and The Cotton Club.
In his 1972 movie The Man, he played the role of Douglass Dilman, a senator who found presidency thrust upon him. And this way James Earl Jones etched his name in history by becoming the first Black actor to play the role of a US president.
