This Tricky Optical Illusion Will Help You Know Your Perception On Shapes & Sizes
A dynamic version of the Ebbinghaus illusion called The Dynamic Ebbinghaus and published on the Illusion of the Year website shows a classic spin.
Optical illusions have been taking over the internet and there is a reason why people are so obsessed with them. These illusions make everyone think, wonder and know a little more about themselves.
Now, a tricky new optical illusion has emerged that has a hidden secret about how you perceive shapes. This is the Dynamic Ebbinghaus illusion which is a test of how we perceive objects in the context of other objects.
"The Ebbinghaus illusion is a classic example of the influence of a contextual surround on the perceived size of an object,¡± researchers wrote in the Frontier for Human Neuroscience journal.
The still version of this illusion has two images of multiple circles organized in a pattern around a centre circle. Even though both the circles are of the same sizes, they appear of different sizes because of the way they are organised.
There is also a moving version of the Ebbinghaus illusion, called The Dynamic Ebbinghaus and published on the Illusion of the Year website. This offers a new perspective.
In the first part, a stationary circle in the very centre of six moving circles appears to change sizes despite remaining the same. The second moving version asks you to focus on the yellow dot in an outer circle as the entire image moves across the screen, with the perimeter circles growing and shrinking.
Now when you focus on the other circle rather than the centre one, it has a big effect.
There are several optical illusions that tell you different things about your personality as well. Recently, a Danish optical illusion, shared on TikTok by Bright Side got viral which tells you if you're happy or sad based on what you saw first.
