On Taiwan National Day, Posters Crop Up Outside Chinese Embassy In New Delhi

Months after deadly clashes between Indian and Chinese troops on the disputed Himalayan border another controversy has come up.
Advertisements were placed in leading Indian newspapers by Taiwan¡¯s government to mark the democratic, Chinese-claimed island¡¯s national day on Saturday.
The advertisement carried a photograph of President Tsai Ing-wen and hailed India, a fellow democracy, as a natural partner of Taiwan.
Large posters wishing Taiwan on its ¡®National Day¡¯ have come up outside the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi. They have been put up by BJP's Tajinder Bagga,
He posted visuals of the posters on his Twitter account on Saturday early morning with the hashtag '#TaiwanNationalDay'.

It comes days after Chinese Embassy in India on Thursday, instructed Indian media persons to 'stick to Indian government's stance on Taiwan' while reporting on the upcoming 'National Day of Taiwan'.

¡°Regarding the so-called forthcoming ¡®National Day of Taiwan¡¯, the Chinese Embassy in India would like to remind our media friends that there is only one China in the world, and the Government of the People¡¯s Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing the whole of China,¡± the embassy said.

Ahead of the National Day, Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-wen, taking to Twitter said, "The whole world can see that Taiwan finds strength in unity" Taiwan's Foreign Minister Jaushieh Joseph Wu thanked Indians for their support in celebrating Taiwan National Day.
