Watch: Tunisia man rescues turtle trapped in fishing net, IAS officer applauds
IAS officer Supriya Sahu thanked a guy for rescuing the life of a sea turtle caught in a plastic fishing net. Mechergui Ala, a Tunisian spearfisher who shares films of his exploits on Instagram, released a video of his turtle rescue mission.
Plastic pollution has a significant negative influence on water bodies and the ecosystem. Plastic discarded in rivers, lakes, and seas degrades into microplastics that are consumed by aquatic species such as plankton, fish, and marine mammals.
As a result, the organisms may sustain physical injuries, digestive tract blockages, or exposure to harmful compounds leached from plastics.
