UK woman finally gets a response to her job application¡ªonly took 48 years!
Tizi Hodson, a 70-year-old former stuntwoman, recently received a job application letter she sent 48 years ago for a motorcycle stunt rider position. The letter, lost in a post office in 1976, was discovered and returned to her.
A 70-year-old woman who applied for a job as a motorcycle stunt rider 48 years ago has gotten an application letter. Tizi Hodson, a former stuntwoman, was pleasantly surprised when her long-lost letter came over five decades after she sent it. The letter, sent in January 1976, had been hidden under a drawer in a post office for years until it was discovered and returned to her.
It came with a handwritten note stating, "Late delivery by Staines Post Office. Found behind a drawer. Only about 50 years later." This unexpected visit brought up recollections of a dream she had in her teens. "I've always puzzled why I didn't hear back about the job. Now I understand why," Hodson told the BBC.
What happened with the woman 48 years back?
Hodson remembers typing the application in a London flat, waiting for an answer that never arrived.
¡°Every day I looked for my post, but there was nothing there, and I was so disappointed because I really, really wanted to be a stunt rider on a motorcycle,¡± she shared. ¡°It means so much to me to get it back all this time later,¡± she said.
Despite the initial setback, Hodson has had a great career. She relocated to Africa and worked as a snake handler and horse whisperer.
She later learned to fly, eventually becoming an aerobatic pilot and teacher. She recalls being careful not to let people know she "was female" because she believed she would "have no chance of even getting an interview."
What did the woman do instead of waiting for the job application?
Tizi Hodson reflected that she had a great time in life, even if she "broke a few bones." "If I could speak to my younger self, I would tell her to do everything I've done," the 70-year-old remarked.
