¡°Pehle matdaan, uske baad bahu, uske baad sab kaam (first comes voting, then wife and everything else after that),¡± he also told reporters.
Polling for the Uttar Pradesh elections have begun with full force and people from all across the state are making sure to cast their votes. But some people are more determined than others to cast their votes no matter what obligations they have.
A groom wearing a suit and pagdi exercised his right to vote in Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2022 at a polling booth in Muzaffarnagar. He cast his vote on the day of his wedding.
This groom named Ankur Balyan, along with his family, arrived at the polling centre to cast his vote in the morning. When asked if he had come from the wedding ceremony, the groom¡ªwearing a dark blue suit and red safa¡ªsaid, ¡°Ab jayenge ji baarat leke (Will go with the wedding procession now).¡±
"Pehle matdaan, uske baad bahu, uske baad sab kaam (First vote, then wife, then other work," the groom told ANI outside the polling booth.

People on the internet cracked up seeing this unusual instance. Many had some very valid questions about the groom as well. One user wrote, ¡®No Election is complete without the bride & bridegroom casting their vote in their wedding dress.¡± Another wrote, ¡±Agar shaadi thi to sabah subah tayyar hokar kyon aa gaya. Ye sab tv par aane ke drama ka hota hai. He could have come in normal clothes, vote & then get ready & then married. What is intent of coming in dressed as ¡°groom¡± instead of dressed as ¡°normal clothes¡± to the polling station.¡±

This is not the first time a groom has made his wedding ceremony wait to cast his vote. Another instance took place in UP where a bridegroom cast his vote at a polling station in Bijnor. The groom came to the polling booth wearing a sehra and a 'note ki mala'.
