US Couple Arrested For Child Abuse As Starving 10-Year-Old Son Flees Home To Beg For Food On Streets

A shocking incident unfolded in Spalding County, Georgia, where a mother and father were apprehended and faced charges of attempted murder of their 10-year-old son.

The distressing story of child abuse and neglect emerged when the severely undernourished boy was found wandering in the neighborhood, desperately searching for a grocery store to ask for food.

According to a report by the New York Post, Tyler, and Krista Schindley were taken into custody by Griffin Police after a concerned neighbor encountered the malnourished child on the streets last Friday.

Disturbingly, the young boy pleaded with the officers, urging them not to send him back to his home.

Attorney Marie Broder, who referred to the case as one of the most severe instances of child starvation she has encountered, said, "As a mother, I can't comprehend it. As a human being, it breaks your heart. We aren't releasing any photos of this child for obvious reasons, but I will tell you, the photos are absolutely horrible, and anybody with a human heart, who looks at them, should be shaken to their core."

According to the police, the child, who was only 36 pounds at the time of his rescue, suffered from intentional starvation.

Tyler and Krista Schindley now face multiple charges, including attempted murder, false imprisonment, cruelty to children, and others.

A 10-year-old child escaped their family's home and was found wandering by a vigilant neighbor on Westminster Circle, as reported by Fox 5 News. The authorities were notified, and it became clear that the child had experienced extreme suffering.

The investigation is ongoing to ensure the safety and well-being of the young victim.

The child was quickly taken to the hospital for immediate treatment due to malnutrition and a low heart rate.

The district attorney, Broder, credited the neighbor with saving the child's life.

DA Broder said, "It is my true belief that had he not gotten out of the home, this case would be a very different one."

Neighbors revealed that the parents frequently left their older children alone for days while they went on vacations.

A neighbor named Kim Seigler expressed shock, saying, "That's just horrible. That anyone would be this, and by them being my next-door neighbor, it makes me wonder if I should have been more observant."

The investigation is still active, and the other four children are currently in the custody of the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services.
