Couldn't speak or eat normally: US' 'Lizardman' talks about his bizarre transformation

Many people elect to undergo body alterations in order to appear more appealing. One would rarely consider undergoing surgery in order to resemble a reptile. Erik Sprague, an American freak show artist and sideshow performer, has undergone a series of extreme physical modifications in order to convert into a lizard. He now has a bifurcated split tongue, sharpened fangs, and is completely covered in green tattoos. These alterations have earned him the moniker "The Lizardman".
Who inspired the US man to go for this extreme transformation?
Erik Sprague was motivated to make these adjustments after becoming infatuated with Godzilla, a fictitious creature that is both a marine and terrestrial reptile.
Erik Sprague recently appeared on the British chat show This Morning on June 28, when he discussed his body alteration operations in depth.
When did the transformation begin?
Erik Sprague told hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary that he opted to get his tongue bifurcated in 1997.
He said, "I became a fan of the way reptiles cross all cultures and history. No matter where you go, there is either a tale of a lizard man or a reptilian.¡±
At the time, he was most likely the first to insist on this change. He recalled the tongue bifurcation surgery, saying,
¡°I could taste and smell my own burning tongue as the laser went through it. The swelling was so severe that it took about a week for the swelling to go down to the point where I could speak or eat normally.¡±
Erik Sprague had Teflon bumps implanted in his skull and above his eyes to give him the appearance of a reptile. These bumps were implanted to simulate lizard scales.

The surgery to place these implants onto his skin was painful, but Erik Sprague was willing to make these sacrifices. He urged the hosts, "You must suffer for your art."
What problems did the man have to face after the transformation?
He developed a lisp after having his teeth sharpened, making it difficult for him to talk normally. He then learnt how to speak properly again with the assistance of a speech pathologist.
Erik Sprague claimed that when he goes out in public, he is frequently glanced at. He's used to folks doing a double take to have a closer look at him.
He said, ¡°I¡¯m not proud of it but I have caused a couple of traffic accidents over the years. Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt, as I¡¯m aware of.¡±
