Heartbreaking Video Shows Man Collecting Spilt Milk Alongside Dogs, Here's Why
Visuals of thousands of migrant workers trying to get home or people crowding at government shelters for food and stay have been doing the rounds on the Internet since the 21-day nationwide lockdown was announced.
In some of these videos, migrant workers have alleged that they've not had anything to eat for days. Add to that this recent video that is going viral on Twitter. If anything, it exemplifies the condition of the poor in the country during lockdown while making one aware of one's privilege.
The video shows a man trying to collect milk spilt on a road which a pack of dogs are feeding on. According to NDTV report the visuals are from Agra's Ram Bagh Chauraha.
A large milk container reportedly overturned there which led to a large amount of milk being spilt on the road, just six kilometres from the Taj Mahal. While a pack of dogs fed on the spilt milk a man was seen trying to scoop up as much of it he could in a small earthen container.
However according to Hindustan Times, the SHO of Itimad-ud-daula police station, Uday Veer Malik confirming he incident said that the man in the video, believed to be unstable, was collecting the milk for the dogs and not himself. ¡°The man (50) lives under the Ram Bagh flyover and sometimes moves to temple nearby. He collects food and other edibles to feed dogs and on Monday morning had collected milk to feed the dogs. The man was not collecting milk for himself but for feeding the dogs after a milkmen carrying milk in container slipped and milk was spread on road," HT quoted Malik as saying.
These heartbreaking video and images put the unfortunate conditions of the poor into perspective. This should also work as an appeal to all people who can spare a little from their ration for those who are underprivileged. Donating food items is the least we can do for people who are struggling daily for just one meal.

The 21-day lockdown that was supposed to end on April 15, has now been extended till May 3. Today at 10 am PM Modi addressed the nation about the extension of the lockdown and the need to continue our fight against the coronavirus.
Here's hoping that, going forward, the unfortunate get to benefit from more organised schemes so that no one dies of hunger and we do not get to see heartbreaking visuals like the ones shown above again.
The International Labour Organization (ILO) said last week that 40 crore Indians working risk falling deeper into poverty during the crisis.
This is the time when humanity and our empathy is being put to the test. Let us help those who we can because we are #inthistogether.
