Earlier today, Sukhbir Singh Badal, while serving as a sewadar outside the Golden Temple, was the target of a shooting incident.
The assailant, who fired at the 62-year-old former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister, was quickly subdued by bystanders before any further harm could occur.
Badal has been performing seva as part of a religious directive by the Akal Takht, which assigned him and other Akali Dal leaders a tankhah (religious penalty) for past transgressions during their tenure from 2007 to 2017.
His duties include washing dishes, cleaning shoes, and managing other services at the Golden Temple and other gurdwaras.
For the past two days, Badal, dressed in a blue sewadar uniform and using a wheelchair due to a leg injury, has been stationed at the temple's entrance, holding a spear.
The attack happened around 9 a.m., shortly after he resumed his duties at the gate, demonstrating his continued commitment despite the incident.

Who is the shooter, Narain Singh?
The shooter has been identified as Narain Singh from Gurdaspur, located around 75 km from Amritsar.

CCTV footage captures him calmly approaching the Golden Temple gate before suddenly drawing a firearm.
Fortunately, a vigilant bystander noticed his actions and grabbed his hand, causing the shot to miss its target and hit a nearby wall. No one, including Sukhbir Singh Badal, was injured.
Narain Singh, also known as Narain Singh Chaura, has a notorious past. He is a former militant linked to the Khalistani group Babbar Khalsa International.
His criminal record stretches back to the 1980s, involving repeated imprisonments and close ties to the separatist movement.
Authorities have detained him, and an investigation is underway to uncover the motive behind the brazen attack.
