As India battled through the frustration of a stubborn last-wicket partnership between Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood on Day 2 of the first Test in Perth, Rishabh Pant was his usual energetic self, lightening the mood with his playful banter.
Walking up to the stumps, Pant urged his teammate Washington Sundar, saying, "Dheele pad ke kaam nahi chalega bhai, Wasu. Thoda mahaul banana padega. Thoda dum lagana padega bhai." (Taking it lightly won't work, Wasu. We need to create some atmosphere. We need to put in some effort, brother.)
Former cricketer Ravi Shastri also echoed Pant's sentiments, stressing the importance of breaking the Starc-Hazlewood stand.
The video, shared by the official broadcaster of the series on X, captured the moment of levity.
After adding 25 runs, the duo's resistance was finally ended by Harshit Rana, who dismissed Starc, helping India bowl Australia out for just 104.
