During one of the viral moments at the event, the host announced a surprise for Unacademy's 9th anniversary.
Without missing a beat, Samay Raina said, "Oh my god, Alakh sir aa rahe hai!" (Alakh sir is coming!), referring to Alakh Pandey, the founder and CEO of Physics Wallah (PW), a direct competitor of Unacademy.
Raina didn't stop there¡ªhe even threw in a reference to Allen, calling 'Allen' Walker his favorite musician, a nod to the recent news of a possible Unacademy takeover by Allen.
As one Redditor humorously commented, "Kon genius tha jisna socha comedian ko ed-tech event mein bulana accha idea tha?" (Who thought inviting Samay Raina was a good idea?).
"Popularity toh badh rahi hai kafi," said another user, acknowledging that while Unacademy may be getting attention, it's the faculty's quality that truly drives enrollment, not a comedian's antics.
As one post wisely put it, "Kash itna paise better faculty pe lagaya hota." (Wish they had put this money into hiring better faculty.)

Will Unacademy be acquired by Allen?
Reports recently suggested that Unacademy was in talks for an $800 million deal, a sharp drop from its $3.4 billion valuation in 2021.
In response, Unacademy co-founder and CEO Gaurav Munjal took to LinkedIn to dismiss the rumours, calling them baseless.
Munjal firmly denied any speculation about a potential acquisition by Allen Career Institute, stating, "This year will be Unacademy's best in terms of growth in the offline business and overall unit economics. We have many years of runway. We are building Unacademy for the long run. We are not doing any sale or M&A. Ignore the rumors."
Even Alakh Pandey, founder and CEO of Physics Wallah, joined the conversation, commenting on Munjal's post, "This sounds so good. I miss the old times of fierce competition. I am waiting for the same. It is only when we compete, students get more options. Wish you luck."
