1. Foundation Day of Gujarat State (1960)
Gujarat Day, also known as Gujarat Gaurav Divas, is celebrated annually on May 1st to commemorate the formation of the state of Gujarat on May 1, 1960. The day is a public holiday in the state of Gujarat and is marked by various cultural programs and events.

In India, the first May Day was celebrated by The Labour Kisan Party of Hindustan in Madras (now Chennai) in 1923. May 1 is also celebrated as 'Maharashtra Day' and 'Gujarat Day' to mark the statehood status of these two states in 1960.

6. Indian Mine Laws passes (1907).
The Indian Mines Act of 1901 was the first comprehensive legislation on mining in India. However, it was soon realised that the provisions of the Act were inadequate to address the serious issues of mine safety and health of workers in the country.
