Surviving The Wild: Woman Stranded In Forest For Five Days Relies On Wine And Lollipops
Lillian was stranded inside her car in distant Victoria with no mobile connection. Officials said the 48-year-old was attempting to drive to Dartmouth Dam when her cat got out.
Forget about packing water, food, or a first aid kit on your next outdoor adventure; just make sure to bring a bottle of your favourite wine and a handful of lollipops, and you'll be just fine.
That's what one woman did on her short trip to Victoria's forest, and she ended up surviving on that unlikely combination of treats for five whole days. It's a miracle she didn't turn into a grape by the end of it. A bottle of wine can be an excellent present. But who knew it might turn into a drink of life for someone stranded in the wilderness?

According to authorities, a woman who became lost in the forest for more than five days survived solely on a bottle of wine and lollipops she carried with her.
After taking a wrong turn while on vacation, Lillian was stranded inside her car in distant Victoria with no mobile connection. Officials said the 48-year-old was attempting to drive to Dartmouth Dam when her cat got stuck at Yankee Point Track.
When she attempted to reverse her vehicle, she discovered that the wheels were still revolving in the same position as when she became stuck in the muck. Lilian missed her daily call to check in on her family on April 30 since her mobile was out of service range. That's when her family raised the alarm, prompting emergency personnel to conduct a wide-ranging search in multiple locations.
After five days of combing the rugged terrain, the police eventually found Lillian's car in the Mitta Mitta wilderness.
The woman was recovered in good health
According to accounts, the 48-year-old was eventually recovered alive and healthy around 37 miles from the nearest town.
Victoria Police released video of Lillian raising her hands towards the helicopter that had discovered her in the bush.
They wrote: "See the moment Air Wing located a woman, who was missing for five days in dense bushland. Yesterday afternoon, Air Wing was conducting a sweep of the hilly terrain when they spotted Lillian¡¯s car at the end of a dirt road in the Mitta Mitta bushland," in a tweet.
Sergeant Martin Torpey of Wodonga Police Station said Lillian had survived on a bottle of wine and lollipops she had prepared for her short, scheduled vacation.
"She was only planning a short day trip and had only brought a few snacks and lollipops with her, but no water." "The only liquid Lillian had with her was a bottle of wine she had purchased as a gift for her mother, so that got her through," Tropey said in a statement.
He went on to say that Lillian was unable to move her car and had to rely on the heater to stay warm overnight. "Although she couldn't move her car, she was able to use the heater overnight to keep warm."
"She was extremely relieved and grateful to see us after being lost in the bush for five days, and we were just as happy to see her," he added.
