YouTuber James Charles Is 'Cancelled' For Apparently Mocking Indian Classical Music In A Video
In the 13-second-long video, Charles can be seen trying out a new filter and trying to lip-sync to an Indian classical tune that plays in the background. However, what has made people furious with the YouTuber is that it appears he is laughing in a mocking manner as the tune plays.
Nobody likes if their culture is made fun of; especially something they are extremely proud of, like Indian classical music. It takes years and years of practice and dedication to master the art, so when a YouTuber allegedly made fun of it, it did not go down well with people.
James Charles is facing flak from the public because in one of his new videos, he is apparently seen making fun of Indian classical music.
The clip featuring the popular content-creator was shared on Twitter by user @monstax4grammys and has left people quite disappointed with Charles's behaviour.

The Internet is calling him out for 'disrespecting Indian culture' and almost every comment on the video is about how it takes years of practice to be an Indian classical singer, and how the celebrity is making fun of people who dedicate their entire lives to learning and perfecting the art.
However, it is also important to note that it is easily possible that he was just making fun of how his face looks with the filter and not the tune.
The video has over 100,000 views and people are going at it in the comment/retweet section.
While Indian classical singers have a talent of singing beautiful tunes, #jamescharles has the talent of being ignorant and cancelling himself. I mean all these firangis mock our culture and then they themselves take away our arts for their own profits. Ironic isn't it? https://t.co/wBAP9X7Koq

ok, I'm a hardcore sister, but this is not okay. please apologize James. that is horrible and very offensive to Indians who are out there learning this music for like 10- 15 years. #jamescharles #apologisejames https://t.co/Fey5O8OHx2

Y'all can come at me all you want, but this is problematic. Influencers being culturally inappropriate is more harmful than we think, 2 more days of this trending on tiktok and this will be the norm. #notfunny #jamescharles https://t.co/z6UUMuatk1

about it. james charles needs to apologise. i am not trying to cancel him but being an influencer, he has a responsibility of influencing people to do the right thing and making fun of indian culture is NOT RIGHT. #jamescharles #jamescharlesapologise
