Squid Game stars take a backseat as this K-drama actor tops January movie star brand rankings
The Korean Business Research Institute released the January brand reputation rankings for South Korean film actors. While Squid Game stars made the Top 5, none landed in the Top 3. The rankings were based on big data collected from December 14, 2024, to January 14, 2025.
Every month, the Korean Business Research Institute releases the brand reputation rankings for South Korean artists. When it comes to film actors, many anticipated one or two stars from the hit series Squid Game to top the list. However, while they made it into the Top 5, they didn't secure a spot in the Top 3.
The rankings are based on an analysis of consumer participation, media coverage, interaction, and community awareness, using big data collected from December 14, 2024, to January 14, 2025, covering 50 popular movie stars. Let's take a closer look at the Top 5 actors on the list, as well as those who follow closely behind.
Hyun Bin
Interestingly, the star of "Crash Landing on You" topped the chart with a brand reputation index of 4,824,632, reflecting a remarkable 157.45% increase in his score since December. He is currently in the spotlight for his role in the action-crime film "Harbin", which has been acquired for distribution in 117 countries.
Lee Jun-hyuk
Currently receiving widespread acclaim for his performance in the SBS TV drama "Love Scout" and the 2024 film "Firefighters", the star secured second place with an impressive score of 4,593,532. This marks a remarkable 110.93% increase in his score compared to last month.
Lee Je-hoon
The actor, who was recently seen in the 2024 film "Escape" as well as the K-drama "Chief Detective 1958", secured the third spot in the rankings with a cumulative score of 3,045,105. However, his score saw a slight decrease of 11.59% compared to the previous month.
Lee Byung-hun
In fourth place is the Squid Game star, who earned a score of 3,042,003. Despite fierce competition, his continued presence in the public eye and involvement in various projects have kept him among the top ranks.
Lee Jung-jae
Finally, in fifth place, the lead of Squid Game secured an index of 2,875,045. His iconic role in the series continues to resonate with fans, maintaining his position in the top rankings despite stiff competition.
