What would aliens see if they were watching Earth from afar? New study reveals thrilling details

Do aliens exist? Well, this is one of the longest debated topics after 'eggs came before or chickens?' But imagine if they exist; how do they look at Earth then? Recently a team of researchers from the SETI Institute conducted a study that revealed some amazing theories that hint at what aliens would notice if they were monitoring the earth.

According to scientists, if there are aliens in the extraterrestrial civilisation, these civilisations would likely be able to detect human life on Earth, which is based on the detection of some of the 'technosignatures.'

For conducting the study, the researchers were involved in transmitting powerful beams of radio waves in space. These signals that are transmitted are directed to an object, such as an alien planet, and then return to Earth as a radio echo. The study is an analysis of the echo that scientists provide information about the object that reflected the signal.

Atmospheric technosignatures as proof of human existence

The scientists worked on characterising the atmospheric technosignatures project and the Penn State Extraterrestrial Intelligence Centre. The study took a holistic approach in considering multiple indicators of human activity at once.

On the other hand, if an extraterrestrial civilisation were listening, they could potentially pick up these signals from as far as 12,000 light-years away.

Signs that aliens notice if they are monitoring the earth

Traces of humans: The aliens could be noticing some traces of human existence in the atmosphere, which is known as 'atmospheric technosignatures.' Atmospheric technosignatures are the gases and other chemical cues within the atmosphere.

Detect gases like nitrogen dioxide: A space telescope that is to be launched in 2027, called the Habitable Worlds Observatory (HWO), will be able to detect gases like nitrogen dioxide from as far away as 5.7 light-years.

Earth is a habitable world: According to scientists, if aliens were to analyse the chemical composition of a planet's atmosphere, they could even identify Earth as a habitable world.

Can detect artificial structures: The interstellar civilisation will be able to detect the artificial structures.

Can detect pollution: Apart from all the findings, researchers also believe that extraterrestrial civilisations might perceive Earth's environmental footprints.
