In an exclusive interaction with Indiatimes, Russo said that John Cena beating Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 would be a step in the right direction for the WWE as it¡¯ll do justice to the much talked about decision to turn ¡®The Franchise Player¡¯ heel in his final year as an in-ring performer.

¡°They have to put John Cena over. You can't turn a guy heel after 25 years and not put him over,¡± he said.

In case you did not know, Cena betrayed Cody Rhodes on The Rock¡¯s instructions at Elimination Chamber 2025 after winning the titular match. He then hit out at the WWE Universe for ¡®bullying¡¯ him all these years. He also took shots at Cody, claiming that he was a ¡®nepo kid¡¯ and did not deserve to be the champion.

Cody Rhodes tried to address the WWE Universe on the final SmackDown before WrestleMania 41 but was interrupted by the Cenation Leader. Cena then hit out at Cody Rhodes for refusing to ¡®sell his soul¡¯ to The Rock at Elimination Chamber. ¡®QB1¡¯ responded by bringing up the ¡®you can¡¯t wrestle¡¯ chants that have been haunting the veteran over the years. Cena then tried to deliver an AA to his foe but received a Cross Rhodes for his efforts.

WrestleMania 41 will be held in Las Vegas this weekend.
