These movies will stay with you long after the credit roll, so brace yourself for the upcoming Scare Fest Saturday!
1. The Witch
The Witch is a movie set in the 1600s New England and it's troubling on multiple levels - from witchcraft and black magic to possession, it's quite the package. This film has the power to transport the viewer to a bygone time and the things it's based on makes it even scarier.
2. Veronica
The terrifying horror film Veronica is based on a real-life story - and it's so creepy people some people just cannot get themselves to finish it. The movie is based on a girl named Estefania Gutierrez Lazaro and it's set in the year 1991. Estefania started dabbling in the occult as a teenager. This led to her performing a seance at school and that's when things start to go awry.
3. Occulus
This psychodrama induces an unpleasant feeling and enough to give you nightmares for weeks. The film takes you through siblings trying to find the cause of the parents demise 10 years ago and zero down the reason to a Lasser glass mirror, they suspect is haunted.
4. I am the pretty little thing
This is, by far, the scariest movie I have watched on Netflix. It's one of the most evocative horror films, the narrative of which comes through while explaining the interconnected lives and deaths of three women, all under the same roof of a haunted house. Every shot in the movie is artistic and every dialogue enough to give you goosebumps and the ghost? Well, we dare you to watch it till the end!
5. The Boy
If you are scared of dolls, this is (not) for you. The movie is about old parents who leave a house to the care of a nanny while they go on 'vacation' and also leave a scary little doll whom they claim is their son. The nanny at first doesn't take it seriously, what follows is terrifying.
6. The Creep
Creep is a 'found footage' movie about a guy who answers an ad in a paper to hang out with a terminally ill dude who wants to make a video diary for his unborn son. The man turns out to be a crazed serial killer. There are two parts to this movie, the first one hands down is scarier, the second sort of fizzles out.
7. The Taking Of Deborash Logan
It all starts as an innocent medical documentary about Deborah Logan's descent into Alzheimer's disease but things take a sharp turn when an unknown entity start to haunt all those involved.
8. The Presence
Another 'found footage' German movie, in which a young couple and their friend travel to an abandoned castle they believe to be haunted. The gang has cameras and laptops with them in hopes of capturing real evidence of the paranormal on video.
9. Warda
This is the first Egyptian 'found footage' horror film and tells the story of a video blogger named Walid who returns to his family home in Egypt's countryside to document strange occurrences.
10. Get Out
Get Out is written and directed by Jordan Peele, known for his comic duo Kay and Peele. In it, Peele draws inspiration of social thrillers and horror films to highlight the issue of racism in the black community. The movie is about a character named Chris, an African-American man, who decides to visit his Caucasian girlfriend's parents during a weekend getaway and things start to go downhill there on.
11. Bram Stoker's Dracula
If you are in the mood for a classic, there's nothing better than Bram Stoker's Dracula. The story is based mostly in England and Transylvania and focuses on Jonathan Harker who travels to Count Dracula¡¯s castle to give him legal assistance on a real estate transaction.
