65-YO Retired Uncle In Mumbai Loses Rs 46 Lakh For 'Young Dates' On Fake Dating Site
A 65-year-old Mumbai man has been allegedly duped of Rs 46 lakh by unidentified persons running a website that promised him young dates. The victim a resident of suburban Malad had approached Kurar police station with a cheating complaint in January this year. The man who was already married had registered himself with the website in May last year in order to date young women.

With the emergence of dating and matrimonial sites, people choose to go online to find a match. But more often than not these are fake. And it's always a good idea to rethink before splurging money on it. However, for this 65-year-old Mumbai man, things turned awry.

According to reports, the man has been allegedly duped of Rs 46 lakh by unidentified persons running a website that promised him young dates.
The victim, a resident of suburban Malad, had approached Kurar police station with a cheating complaint in January this year, reports PTI. The man who was already married had registered himself with the website in May last year in order to date young women.
¡°When I checked the website, I saw a tab, ¡®looking for.¡¯ I then clicked on ¡®entertainment¡¯. I was asked to register on the site. When I completed the registration, I received a call from a woman named Meera," he told Midday
¡°Meera shared pictures of three girls and told me to pick one. When I did so, she told me I would have to pay Rs 25,500 to meet the girl, after which I could date her for a year.¡±
According to the Midday report, the man paid Rs 82,500 as privacy fee, Rs 1.75 lakh as video call insurance, Rs 2.85 lakh to make a yearly contract with the girl and Rs 5.50 lakh for profile verification.

The money squandering got progressively worse.
On May 7, Meera called the man to pay Rs 26.50 lakh for premium membership and Rs 50,000 as ¡°extra charges, and he did. After he got the contact number of a girl called 'Rosy', was asked to pay Rs 7.85 lakh as holding charges¡±.
The victim, in his complaint, has alleged that he lost Rs 46 lakh to the fraudsters and multiple attempts to contact those operating the website proved futile, police said.
