UP: 7 Children Storm Wedding Venue With Their Mothers To Stop Father's Fifth Marriage
The bride-to-be fled the location as a big crowd gathered and beat up the would-be groom.
UP is a land of bizarre tales, but nothing beats the 'wedding dramas' that unfold at the venue. After four weddings, 'five' proved to be an unlucky number for 55-year-old Shafi Ahmad.
Tuesday night's potential fifth marriage for Ahmad escalated into an ugly drama after his seven children and their mothers stormed the venue and created a scene.
An altercation started after the kids told the bride's family who they were and escalated into a brawl. The incident took place in Sitapur, UP.
The bride-to-be fled the location as a big crowd gathered and beat up the would-be groom.
Kotwali police station Inspector Tej Prakash Singh said: "The groom's children informed the police about the incident. After that, we reached the spot and arrested the accused."
The children claimed their father had stopped providing them with money for monthly needs, and when they discovered he had had five marriages, they decided to act.
In July, a man from Shahjahanpur, UP, walked off his marriage after a dispute between his and the bride¡¯s side broke out over who would pay for the brass band.
The band wanted payment from the groom during the wedding ceremonies but refused, saying the bride's side should pay them off.
Well, it happens only in UP!
