Brazil: Man Running Away From A Swarm Of Bees Falls In The Lake, Gets Eaten By Piranhas

No matter what you do, you can't really escape your luck. But a person from Brazil really couldn't do anything about the bad luck that took him down.

Three friends went fishing in Brazil¡¯s Landia de Minas on Saturday. Two of them managed to swim out to the shore, while the third pal couldn't escape a bee swarm, but was killed in a piranha attack.

Correio Braziliense reports that the victim, aged 30, was found 4m from the shore by the fire department on Sunday, Oct 31. He said, ¡°The man¡¯s face and other body parts were destroyed by the firefighter who performed the rescue.¡±

Apparently, the men were fishing in the lake and their boat hit logs, causing the beehive to become disturbed. According to one survivor, he helped to rescue the victim despite being allergic to the bites from these insects. Lieutenant Toletino is the third commander of the Military Fire Department¡¯s Third Platoon. He said that they will be admitted to the hospital.

El Nacional said that authorities are currently investigating whether the man drowned, could not escape the piranha which prevented him from swimming towards the other end or was attacked by a carnivorous species of fish.

The firefighters noted that the young man was in a ¡°boxer¡± position, near the water. Portal O Tempo published the following: This is a typical drowning scene, with severe head injuries.

Rescuers saw the injuries and inquired about whether there were any piranhas in that lake. They confirmed. For this reason, he didn¡¯t ask for an expert opinion as there was no evidence of criminality. The Institute of Forensic Medicine (IML), found the body of his father and gave it to him.

Piranhas are freshwater fish with razor-sharp teeth and travel in large shoals for protection from predators. While attacks on humans are 'extremely rare' according to the BBC, however, they can happen when people get into unfamiliar water.
