In the past 7-8 months, authorities around the world have made it compulsory for people visiting public places to wear face masks at all times. That¡¯s because the standard protective accessories against the highly contagious coronavirus are face masks, hand sanitisers, face shields, and gloves. While the former are advisable for everyone, the latter are usually worn by medical professionals, sanitation workers or people interacting with a sizable volume of people on a daily basis.
Now that face masks are here to stay for a while, they have gone from being simple protective gear to fancy clothing accessories. However, there are some crafty individuals who have gone a couple of steps ahead, and come up with some very quirky masks.

In New York, one man became a strange sight at subway stations and trains.

Equipped with a big rat mask a long tail and a full body suit, the man is often seen boarding the metro trains in the city. A photo of him perched on a train seat has been circulated widely.
A video of Buddy, that has gone viral, shows passengers are not surprised or bothered by his presence. It almost feels as though it's a routine sight.
Buddy's video has a huge fan following on social media, especially on TikTok.
The man wearing the rodent uniform and mask is Jonothon Lyons, a performance artist with a career in theatre. According to a New York Post report, Lyons said that he is amazed that New Yorkers are absolutely unfazed by his 'rat' presence. He also joked and said that it is easier to maintain social distancing while dressed as a giant rat.
He said, "I don¡¯t have to worry about people staying 6 feet away from me."
