For Just Rs 1500, You Can Name A Cockroach After Your Ex At This Zoo In Canada
The Toronto Zoo has said that there are rules about what you can call the animals and that you can't use hate speech or foul language.
Everyone has at least one person in their lives that they despise intensely, whether it be an ex-partner who continues to create complications, an obnoxious supervisor, or a nosy relative.
People in Canada can now be petty and vent their emotions in an unconventional manner, thanks to a zoo in the nation.
The Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy has started a new campaign called "name-a-roach" in preparation for Valentine's Day. People can give a cockroach a name in someone's honor through this initiative.
The zoo will enable you to name a cockroach after anyone who is "bugging" you as long as you make a minimum donation of $25 (Rs 1507).
The campaign was unveiled by the company in a tweet where it stated,
Roses are red; violets are blue¡ Is there someone in your life that¡¯s bugging you? Give them goosebumps by naming a cockroach in their honour this Valentine's Day ??

'Roses are red; violets are blue... Is there someone in your life that's bugging you? Give them goosebumps by naming a cockroach in their honor this Valentine's Day.''
By clicking "Dedicate your gift," "In honor of," and then "Enter a name here," donors may give cockroaches the names of their near and dear ones. Afterward, they will receive a digital certificate displaying the roach's name, a digital visual they may share, and a tax deduction receipt for their generosity.
The Toronto Zoo has said, though, that there are rules about what you can call the animals and that you can't use hate speech or foul language.

"Naming opportunities are not limited to exes - you can name a roach after your boss, ex-friend, relative, or anyone else that has been 'bugging' you," Kelsey Godel, Donor Stewardship and Engagement Coordinator for the Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy told CTV News Toronto Monday.
The zoo has included a disclaimer on its website that says,
''The Toronto Zoo and the Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy respect all creatures - big and small. Cockroaches play a very integral ecological role in their rainforest homes by helping to decompose forest litter and animal fecal matter and are, in turn, food for many other animals. Despite their hair-raising reputation, cockroaches undeniably play a vital role in the sustainability of plant and animal habitats.''
Meanwhile, the public's reactions to the campaign that the zoo is running have been mixed, with some people who find it humorous while others have labeled it insensitive. One of the users wrote,
There is nothing about this that I don¡¯t love. Well played!! https://t.co/7LqVu9qYNp

Wow I would not want to put people in that kind of misery. Would I donate and pull this off? Probably nah https://t.co/pv4djmbwcj

Fun idea in theory but the e-card is gross. I love the Toronto zoo but not this. It just seems needlessly cruel. https://t.co/mBvu9ngcsI

"Fun idea in theory, but the e-card is gross. I love the Toronto zoo but not this. It just seems needlessly cruel.'' Another called it ''a brilliant campaign,'', while another one said, ''There is nothing about this that I don't love. Well played!!''
Another user added ''Big fan of these kinds of campaigns. Even though it's been a LONG time since I was dumped by my ex-gf right around Valentines Day, this is prime gold. Perfection....''
