Motorist escapes after huge rock falls on Rishikesh-Chamba highway
Last year, a motorist had a narrow escape after huge boulders of rock fell on the Rishikesh-Chamba route in the Tehri district of Uttarakhand.
The boulder fell on the passage from where the motorist had passed a moment ago. The landslide reportedly damaged an underground water pipeline and vehicular movement was also affected due to the landslide.
The incident took place near Nagni Petrol Pump, 15 km before Chamba on the Rishikesh-Gangotri National Highway. The highway was later closed due to heavy boulders and stones falling from the hill. This had resulted in long queues of vehicles on both sides of it.
