Chandigarh Cops Come Up With Brilliant Jugaad To Nab Lockdown Violators While Keeping Distance

Police, the frontline warriors of the coronavirus pandemic, have been risking their lives every single day to make sure people are safe. In times like these, their personal protection is paramount.

While they are instructed to wear masks and gloves on duty, there are many other things that haven't been taken into account when it comes to their interaction with possible COVID-19 patients.

Things get especially tricky when they have to nab lockdown violators, many times they have to physically tackle them. Keeping this problem in mind, the Chandigarh cops have come with a unique 'metal tong' that helps grab violators while making sure they are kept at a distance.

According to an HT report, the instrument, made by the VIP Security wing of Chandigarh Police, has a long metal rod which can be strapped to a policeman¡¯s arms, with a tong-like shape at the other end.

The device¡¯s other end can be used to catch violators by attaching it around the person¡¯s waist and leading them to the police vehicle without any kind of contact between the cop and said violator.

Sanjay Baniwal, director-general of Chandigarh Police, shared a post on Twitter where a policeman can be seen demonstrating how the device functions.

With no death of coronavirus patient belonging to Chandigarh, the city has a recovery rate of 56 per cent, the third highest in the country after Kerala (70 per cent) and Haryana (67 per cent), Chandigarh Advisor Manoj Parida said.

In another example, a Tripura based YouTuber built a 'COVID-19' bike based on the social distancing norm, the bike has seats one metre apart.
