Zoogoers Get A Rude Shock After Learning ¡®Pandas¡¯ Are Dogs Dyed Black And White

A zoo in China caused quite a stir by apparently dressing up chow chow dogs as 'pandas' by dying their fur black and white. These 'faux pandas,' were captured on camera on May 1 at the Taizhou Zoo in Jiangsu Province, according to Jam Press.

Zoo officials reportedly trimmed their fur and dyed their faces black hoping no one would notice they aren't really the bamboo-eating bears we've come to love so much. The Chow Chow is a big-haired local to Northern China.

The zoo reportedly said it wants to attract more visitors but since it can't currently house actual pandas, this will have to do.
Meanwhile, the zoo officials insisted that the dye wasn¡¯t harmful to the dogs, and non-toxic dyes are used to paint the Chow Chows. A professional pet beautician reportedly said that organic, plant-based ingredients are rarely ever toxic, as per the Global Times.
While this does raise questions on possible animal abuse and fraud, a board reportedly placed in front of the enclosure tells visitors that ¡°panda dogs¡± are not real.
