Yet another instance emerges where poorly administered cosmetic filler has resulted in a troubling outcome. In this latest case, a woman from Washington State suffered a botched injection, leading to the distressing consequence of her nose apparently falling off.
Who Suffered The Burns?
A Washington State native, Krysta Carson, 52, suffered the terrifying ordeal.
What Led To Her Nose ¡®Falling Off¡¯?
More than a decade ago, the distressing journey for the Seattle resident began. Like many individuals entering middle age, Carson grew discontent with her looks, even experiencing the discomfort of being mistaken for her own mother-in-law by strangers.
Despite having undergone Botox injections for two decades by then, this seasoned entertainer continued to be perceived as older than she wished to appear. Carson lamented, per Kennedy News, ¡°My husband is 10 years younger than me, and after he joined me here [in Seattle], in a period of about two weeks, I got mistaken for his mother three times.¡±
In 2015, Carson opted to pursue filler treatment from an undisclosed surgeon.
When Did Things Go South?
The following year, Carson embarked on her cosmetic journey by undergoing yearly injections into her smile lines. She was initially pleased with the results. However, everything took a drastic turn on October 12, 2020, when she received an injection that would forever change her life.
Why Did Her Nose Suffer Such Dire Consequences?
Upon returning home that day, Carson began encountering a series of unusual symptoms, including a tingling and numbing sensation, along with slurred speech. Growing increasingly alarmed by these escalating symptoms, Carson reached out to the surgeon's office the next morning.
Advised to come in immediately, she was informed by the surgeon that a blood vessel had been inadvertently affected. He cautioned her that the situation would deteriorate before showing signs of improvement.
Despite the reassurance from the doctor that she would likely recover within six months and receive an ointment for the injection site, Carson's situation took a turn contrary to the initial diagnosis.
According to reports, on October 31, 2020, while applying the prescribed topical treatment, the lower part of her nostril unexpectedly detached from her upper lip. The mishandled filler injection resulted in a vascular occlusion, where the injected substance obstructed the flow of oxygen and nutrients to the skin.
While this condition is typically mild, Carson's case escalated drastically. She experienced necrosis, which is like the tissue death observed in severe frostbite cases, due to the complications arising from the procedure.
