Homeowner sells mansion at discount, only to discover billionaire Jeff Bezos bought it¡ªnow he's suing the real estate company
A Miami homeowner is regretting selling his mansion at a discount after learning it was purchased by Jeff Bezos, the world's second wealthiest person. He is now suing the real estate company for allegedly failing to disclose Bezos as the buyer.
A Miami homeowner is now living with a hefty dose of regret after discovering he sold his mansion for less than its asking price¡ªand to none other than Jeff Bezos, the Amazon founder and billionaire who is the second wealthiest person in the world as of July 2024. Imagine the frustration of selling your home at a discount, only to find out the buyer is a billionaire who could have paid top dollar! Now, the man is suing the realtor for not disclosing Jeff Bezos was the buyer.
Leo Kryss, the Brazilian billionaire behind Tectoy, is now facing a major case of seller's remorse after a jaw-dropping revelation.
Kryss, who sold his lavish Miami estate, is suing Douglas Elliman for allegedly misleading him about the buyer.
The property, a waterfront paradise on Indian Creek Island¡ªhome to a star-studded lineup including Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump, and Tom Brady¡ªwas originally bought by Kryss for $28 million in 2014.
In May 2023, Kryss listed it for $85 million, but a month later, Jeff Bezos swooped in with a $79 million offer.
Here's the twist: Douglas Elliman's CEO, Jay Parker, reportedly assured Kryss that Bezos wasn't the buyer and that the price would not exceed $79 million.
Believing this, Kryss slashed the asking price.
To his dismay, he later discovered that Bezos was indeed an entity related to Bezos¡ªan unwelcome twist that has cost him millions.
Now, Kryss is alleging that if he had known Bezos was in the mix, he would have held firm on his price.
And so, Kryss is now suing the US-based real estate brokerage company, Douglas Elliman.
Interestingly, realtors note that wealthy buyers often conceal their identity to prevent sellers from inflating the price once they learn who the buyer is.
