In Another Case Of Animal Cruelty, Village Head Orders Poisoning Of 50 Stray Dogs In Telangana
Asmany as 50 dogs were reportedly poisoned in Telladevarapalli village in the Nalgonda district of Telangana. Village sarpanch Papa Nayak reportedly ordered the poisoning of dogs after locals complained about the dog menace. The bodies of the culled dogs were taken in a truck and dumped at the Nakkala Gandi water project site.
In a another gut-wrenching case of animal cruelty, as many as 50 dogs were reportedly poisoned in Telladevarapalli village in the Nalgonda district of Telangana.
The practice of culling stray dogs spreads across cities in India. The moment there's a threat of stray dog menace, killing them in one go seems to be the only thing some people resort to.
According to an IANS report, this incident from Telangana came to light after the village sarpanch Papa Nayak ordered the poisoning of 50 dogs.

The bodies of the culled dogs were taken in a truck and dumped at the Nakkala Gandi water project site.
Village sarpanch Papa Nayak had reportedly ordered the poisoning of dogs after locals complained about the dog menace. He had also received complaints of the street dogs attacking some people.
District collector Gaurav Uppal ordered an inquiry in to the incident and stated that action would be taken against those found guilty.
In another incident in Siddipet district, Telangana, four municipal employees were suspended for their alleged involvement in the poisoning of over 100 dogs last month.
The action came after former central minister and animal rights activist Maneka Gandhi intervened in the matter after an appeal from some people.
The police also registered a case against them for cruelty to the animals. The act was allegedly carried out on the orders of Siddipet municipality. According to The New Indian Express, a resident in the video can be heard sobbing and complaining about the incident.

She said, "I was shocked to find all my dogs gone. They were not aggressive and never created any menace. If people complained, they should have exercised animal birth control instead of injecting poison into them," as quoted by The New Indian Express.
The moment this news came to light, a team of activists gathered on the location to accumulate evidence and lodge a complaint. Under the Prevention of Cruelty against animal Act and section 428 and 429 of IPC an FIR was filed against unknown persons. A second incident of similar killings was reported soon after.
"We filed a complaint on Saturday night and an FIR was booked. Considering evidence is crucial for conviction in such cases we went to look for the carcasses on Sunday morning and found them in the dump yard near Busaram forest. Just 30 minutes into the inquiry, we saw them bringing in a new batch of dead dogs in municipality vehicle," said an animal activist, Teja P, as quoted by The New Indian Express.
