Indian Landlord In UK Faces 10-Year Ban For Renting Out 'Dangerous' Homes
The shady landlord, who was previously convicted of pestering tenants, is facing the UK's longest renting ban. In defending himself, he claims that his renters "love him" and that he is a "very soft man."
In a significant move emphasising the necessity of providing safe and habitable living conditions for renters, a landlord of Indian origin has been barred from letting out houses in the United Kingdom for a term of ten years.
This heavy penalty is in reaction to the landlord's chronic disrespect for their tenants' safety and well-being by offering poor and dangerous accommodation.

A local council in northern England handed out one of the UK's harshest letting bans of up to ten years to an Indian-origin landlord after he regularly violated safety rules and committed significant housing crimes.
Nilendu Das, 55, was added to the country's Rogue Landlord Database after frequently renting out dangerous premises in Sheffield, an entry that comes with a 10-year ban from letting or managing properties.

Pictures from properties Das rented out show roofs with holes in them and one property with stacks of garbage outside. Others display heaps of trash in their backyards, dirty messes under sinks, and jagged holes in their ceilings.
After Sheffield City Council applied for a prohibition order, he was listed in the Rogue Landlord Database. Das, of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, was sentenced to ten years in prison on September 22 before a Manchester tribunal.
What Did Sheffield City Council Reveal?
Sheffield City Council disclosed this week that the ban was granted in August following a First Tier Tribunal judgement in Manchester and that it is the first one that it has asked for as the country's longest banning order.
"The length of Nilendu Das' ban reflects the gravity of his actions and his flagrant disregard for fire safety and tenant safety."

"We are delighted to see his name on the Rogue Landlord Database," said Sheffield City Council Housing Committee Chair Councillor Douglas Johnson.
"Mr Das has a long history of operating and managing extremely poor-quality housing and has been prosecuted by the council on numerous occasions." This latest prosecution stems from Das' continued involvement in the most serious housing violations.
"His properties were among the most dangerous that the council's enforcement staff had ever seen," he claimed.
What Are The Consequences That Nilendu Das Has To Face?
All local authorities in the UK can access the Rogue Landlord Database, and if Nilendu Das violates the banning order, he might face a jail sentence or a fine of up to GBP 30,000. "Sheffield City Council takes firm action against bad housing and criminal activity. The council will take action to protect the people of Sheffield and to drive out rogue landlords," Johnson continued.

It comes after Das was found guilty of endangering renters by exposing them to inadequate and unsafe living conditions. He was compelled to pay almost ?7,000 in court fees and fines for a variety of housing and health and safety violations at his Sheffield Indian restaurant.
Das was sentenced to a 12-month community order in March 2021 after being imprisoned for harassing tenants.
