A 17-year-old girl fled from Indore to the nearby Madhya Pradesh city of Ujjain after failing her yearly undergraduate examination because she was afraid her parents would reprimand her, according to police. Here's what happened next.

The girl, who was enrolled in the first year of a Bachelor of Arts (BA) programme at a local college, was taken from Ujjain, which is situated around 50 kilometres from Indore, on Saturday and then turned over to her family, according to the sources.
Hours after the exam results were out, the girl's father filed a complaint, according to Inspector Rajendra Soni of Indore's Banganga police station. "The girl's father stated his daughter was abducted from near a temple in Indore while she was on her way home from the college," he told PTI.
According to the official, the complainant said that his daughter called him from an unknown number and informed him that she had been abducted in Indore.
She explained to her father that she had been sent off by a college staff member in a square close to the temple, where she then boarded an e-rickshaw.
The false story had disturbing details
The inspector claimed that the girl also told her father that the rickshaw driver had taken her to a remote location and covered her mouth with a towel, causing her to lose consciousness.
"The girl's claim was found to be false when the CCTV footage of the area she mentioned was checked," he stated.
¡°In the meantime, the police got information about a girl sitting alone at a restaurant in Ujjain and her photo matched with the one provided by the complainant,¡± the official said.
Later, the girl was taken to Indore, where her bag was examined. He stated that it had a bus ticket from Indore to Ujjain as well as a meal bill. A police officer then gave her advice.
According to Soni, the girl claimed to have fled and made up the kidnapping narrative to avoid having to face her parents after failing the BA first year final exam.
The official claimed that she was afraid of being reprimanded.
The police reported that the girl had been given to her parents.
