Man In Singapore Fined For Locking Up 9 Ex-Employees In Office After Being Fired
After losing his job, a man got furious and locked nine ex-workers in an office in Singapore. This happened last September, and the only way in or out was the main door, which he padlocked. He admitted to doing this and sending a mean message to a former coworker. As a result, he has been fined $2,983 (around Rs 2.47 lakh).

He admitted to doing this and sending a mean message to a former coworker. As a result, he has been fined $2,983 (around Rs 2.47 lakh).
According to information from the court documents, as reported by CNA, Lim started working as a driver and logistics assistant at an electronics company in Pantech Business Hub in May 2022.
He officially started his job on July 1, 2022, and his work hours were from 8 am to 5 pm, including a one-hour lunch break.
Unfortunately, his career ended on August 30, 2022, before his probation period ended.
After he lost his job, Lim bought a padlock from a hardware store. He planned to lock the only door to his old workplace because he was angry about getting fired.
On September 1, 2022, at about 2:20 pm, he got to the office and used the padlock to lock the door. Lim thought his former coworkers were all on lunch breaks and that they had probably left the office.
Nevertheless, lunch breaks were scheduled at different times to ensure someone was always in the office.
About 10 minutes after Lim locked the door, an employee tried to leave for the restroom but couldn't because the door was locked.
This worker then noticed that the door had been locked from the outside and told the other trapped colleagues. In total, nine employees were stuck inside.

They got help from a coworker in another part of the building, who confirmed that the entrance door had been padlocked.
To solve the problem, the company got a locksmith who had to be paid around $60 to take off the padlock on the same day.
The owner also went to the police and showed them the CCTV footage of Lim's actions. Now, Lim is charged with wrongful confinement, which could mean up to three years in jail, a fine, or both penalties.
