Pune: Mask With A Sim-Card & Mic Attached Seized From Candidate Appearing For Constable Recruitment Exam

There is no dearth of ways to cheat in an exam and if you're unaware of it, you can ask any Indian student and they can give you a whole list of options. No matter how times change, cheating is one thing that hasn't really died with the times. In fact, with new technologies, there are new and different ways to cheat.
Speaking of which, a recent hi-tech incident of cheating may remind you of a scene from Sanjay Dutt starrer Munnabhai MBBS. In this real-life incident, a student was caught wearing a face mask fitted with an electronic device. The mask was seized by Pimpri Chinchwad police.
The candidate had arrived to appear for the police constable recruitment examination at a school in Hinjewadi on Friday afternoon. He was caught with a face mask fitted with an electronic device ¨C that had a SIM card, mic and battery.

A case has been registered against the candidate at Hinjewadi police station under sections of the Maharashtra Prevention of Malpractices at University, Board and Other Specified Examinations Act, 1982.
Police Naik Shashikant Devkant who is 34-years-old was the complainant. The naik from Hinjewadi police station was on duty at Blue Ridge Public School which was the centre for the written examination for recruitment of constables on Friday, as per the press statement. While checking candidates entering the examination centre, the complainant intercepted the accused and found an electronic device connected to his face mask.
However, before the police could check into the matter, the candidate ran away from the spot.

The police added that the device in the face mask had a JBS battery, charging point, Airtel SIM card, a switch and a mic, all connected with wires. Search is underway to nab the accused.

It was later updated that the two accused were arrested by police in the case and have been sent to police custody for 3 days.
In a similar case, a gang of five students were arrested after they tried cheating in the Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers (REET) with slippers with a Bluetooth device in-built in it. The candidate had a device inside his ear and someone from outside the exam hall was helping him cheat. Apparently, the device was worth Rs 6 lakh.
