Palm Reader Predicts Woman's Death, Then Kills Her By Giving Pesticide-Laced Chocolate

In Brazil, a tragic incident unfolded as 27-year-old Fernanda Silva lost her life. It all began when she accepted a piece of chocolate from an elderly woman she met on the street.

This elderly lady, who identified as a fortune teller, delivered a chilling prediction: Fernanda had only a few days to live.

Tragically, Fernanda consumed the chocolate, and the consequences were devastating.

Just a day after this unsettling encounter, on August 4, she passed away. Her cousin, Bianca Cristina, revealed in an interview with the G1 news outlet that she became seriously ill at home after returning from a routine errand.

She remembered that Silva's eyesight got blurry for a few hours, and she seemed to improve the next day.

At first, the family believed it might be another episode of gastritis and ulcers, as Silva had experienced before.

Her aunt Maria Gomes, as quoted by Globo, claimed that their concern increased when she began to vomit, experience nosebleeds, and foam at the mouth.

A relative quickly took her to Santa Casa de Misericordia Hospital, where she was declared dead.

"As the chocolate was packaged, it didn't occur to her that it could pose any danger,' Bianca Cristina said. 'And as she was hungry, she decided to eat it."

The autopsy report, made public last Wednesday, revealed that the candy contained a significant amount of sulfotep and terbufos.

Sulfotep is a pesticide used in greenhouses for fumigation, while terbufos is a chemical found in pesticides.

Although these substances are readily available in Brazil, the medical examiner noted that they have not been detected in people who have passed away in the past five years.

Text messages acquired by Brazilian media outlets showed that Silva informed a family member:

"Can you believe that I went to wash and hang Mel's clothes just now, and I felt so dizzy?'

She then sent a text message, mentioning that she lost her balance and nearly fell to the ground.

'I leant on the water tank. I almost fell. I almost met God,' Silva wrote. 'I don't know why I'm like this, sis. I've been feeling bad all day.'

She explained that she took the candy from the supposed fortune teller because "she was an old lady. I ate it because it was well-sealed, right? But I've been feeling so weak since then."

'My heart is racing. I've thrown up. But I have this taste in my mouth. So bitter. Bad. My vision is blurry. I'm so weak.'

Silva's cousin, Lumenita Valoz, couldn't understand why someone would want to harm the mother of a nine-year-old girl with special needs, especially considering that she didn't have any enemies.

'I just know that Fernanda wasn't involved in parties, chaos, or anything like that,' Valoz said. 'I don't see anyone having a reason to do this to her, but we don't know anyone's heart. If it was someone who ordered the killing or if the fortune teller killed her because she wanted to, only the police will find out.'

The homicide division of the Civil Police is looking into Silva's death, but they have not made any arrests.
