For the uninitiated, a person following the profession of a 'cuddlist' offers "a therapeutic, non-sexual, cuddle session with a certified professional cuddler."
In recent years, cuddling ¡ª billed as therapeutic, nonsexual touch therapy has grown in demand. More and more people who are trying to cope with the everyday hustle and are fairly lonely, prefer to unwind and de-stress with the help of a cuddlist.
And that's where people like Robin Stine who is also a professional cuddler and hugger makes huge bucks. Stine offers her clients everything from non-sexual spooning, arm tickling and deep embraces.
With this, she makes about $40,000 a year (Rs 28 lakh, approx) and it's quite a lot of money. Robin charges $80 (Rs 5630) an hour and yes, she has some very strict ground rules before the start of any session.

¡°It¡¯s very rewarding. It causes the body to release oxytocin, the ¡®bonding hormone,¡¯ which makes us feel happier and less stressed," says Stine.

For people who opt for this therapy, the experience is all about being understood and more importantly consensual hugging helps people calm down while connecting to another human in a non-sexual form.

¡°Many people find it difficult to ask for what they want or need in life and seeing a cuddling professional can really help with that," adds Stine.
Robin Stine who herself is a victim of fibromyalgia says that her profession has led to a decrease in pain, stress, and her sleep cycle has improved.
