Emma Ruscoe, a 55-year-old lady from Solihull, West Midlands, England, suspected her husband Simon of having an affair after noticing minor changes in his behaviour.

According to the Daily Mail, Emma became concerned when 58-year-old Simon began retreating from their social groups and displaying signs of emotional estrangement.

Around the end of 2015, the family began to notice these changes. Emma noticed Simon making erroneous turns even in familiar areas. Emma noted more changes in her husband's behaviour during a family vacation in Cephalonia, Greece, in August 2016.

Simon became increasingly irritable, and the talks they had faded from his mind. Emma decided to take him to their General Practitioner, who recommended a memory clinic because she was concerned about his health. However, getting Simon to the appointment proved difficult.

Emma returned to the physicians in March 2018, and they were once again referred to a memory clinic. They received a letter in June of that year confirming that Simon did not have dementia.

She expressed her dissatisfaction, recalling that no tests were performed and that they just spoke with a psychologist who attributed Simon's symptoms to increased stress.

Emma was undeterred by the initial diagnosis and proceeded in her search for answers. The couple went to more visits where Simon was evaluated. Finally, they were diagnosed with early-onset dementia in January 2020.

Emma expressed relief after hearing the confirmation. She had a feeling something was awry, but their concerns had gone unaddressed for far too long.

Simon's abilities have declined from being able to trim the lawn just 12 months earlier to needing assistance with everyday duties, indicating the disease's progression.

Emma described the emotional toll of seeing her spouse deteriorating after 31 years of marriage. The family is currently looking for a personal assistant who can offer them relief while also allowing Simon some independence.
