Ashley McGuire, a woman from Massachusetts, is on a journey to find her husband, who disappeared when she was pregnant. Her call for aid went viral on Facebook, but the post has now been removed.
What is the bizarre story of the husband's disappearance?
Ashley's husband, Charlie, seemingly abandoned her when she needed him the most, claiming he wanted a different life and even changing his contact information.
The tale went viral after a 'X' user published a screenshot, piquing the interest of the entire internet. "Hi, this is my husband, Charles Withers. He enjoys being the center of attention, but I'm not sure he'll enjoy this," Ashley wrote in a post shared with the popular Facebook group "Are We Dating the Same Guy" last Saturday.
When did the husband leave?
"Last year, when I was pregnant with our youngest baby, he decided being a husband and a dad wasn't the lifestyle he wanted anymore and he ghosted, like gone without a trace."
Ashley is currently trying to divorce Charles (who now goes by the name Charlie), and in her search for him, she resorted to the internet for assistance. "If you know him, if you're working with him, if you're dating him or friends with him, can you please have him get in touch with me or let me know where I can find him," she said.
How did people on the internet help the woman?
Since then, thousands of people have rallied around Ashley, with many online detectives channeling their inner Sherlock Holmes to help find Charlie. Some have already identified Charlie's alleged Twitter account and messages from his reported Bumble account.
In an unexpected turn of events, less than 24 hours after Ashley's original plea, other women from the Texas chapter of the "Are We Dating the Same Guy" Facebook group came forward, claiming they had matched with Charlie on dating apps, according to a viral TikTok video.
Fast forward to less than 24 hours after Ashley's plea went viral, when she posted an update claiming she had gotten enough information to locate her estranged spouse.
"I've gotten more than enough information to locate him," the appreciative mother wrote in a follow-up Facebook post. "I have literally hundreds of messages to sort through, some with information and some with support, and I appreciate all of them," she said in a statement.
