Soon! Amazon To Launch 'Under Rs 600' Marketplace Named Bazaar To Rival Meesho
World's largest e-commerce platform Amazon is launching a new vertical with inexpensive, unbranded fashion and lifestyle products. The US e-commerce behemoth is making a concerted effort to court value-conscious Indian consumers as the market for mass-market goods wanes and its own expansion slows.
World's largest e-commerce platform Amazon is planning to soon launch a new online marketplace in India, named 'Bazaar', which will have inexpensive, unbranded fashion and lifestyle products.
Amazon To Launch 'Under Rs 600' Marketplace Named Bazaar
Amazon Bazaar has already started the process of onboarding sellers and requests that they list unbranded goods, such as clothing, luggage, watches, shoes, and jewelry, at prices under Rs 600.
¡°Bazaar is a new store on Amazon where you can sell your fashion and lifestyle products online at no extra charges, thus making it more profitable to run your business,¡± a document from Amazon to sellers said.
Those who are aware of the plan say that Amazon Bazaar products will probably take two to three days to arrive, which is different from the quick delivery that Prime members are entitled to. Given the growing pressure from quick commerce platforms, Amazon is also in the early stages of talks with brands and sellers to be able to deliver specific products in a matter of hours.
¡°Consumer cohorts at the lower end of the market typically do not prioritise faster deliveries¡They (Amazon India) have lost out on the segment so far and essentially want to tap the typical Meesho customer,¡± said one of them, as per ET report.

Amazon Bazaar Set To Challenge Meesho & Others
SoftBank-backed Meesho has already entered the low cost marketplace
effectively, and Shopsy, owned by Walmart and operating through a different app, is the other significant player. Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Industries is also developing Ajio Street, a low-cost platform.
Amazon is suggesting that merchants pay no referral fees, which is crucial for goods with low average selling prices (ASP). Meesho has an average selling price (ASP) of Rs 300¨C350 and uses a zero commission business model to monetize its advertising and provide sellers with logistics services. Meesho, unlike e-commerce giants Amazon and Flipkart, does not own or manage warehouses or logistics.
