Apple Co-founder Warns Against Buying A Tesla, Says Its Artificial Intelligence Can Kill You

Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple, was recently asked what he thought of Elon Musk, and his response regarding the world's second-richest person's EV firm Tesla isn't something he might want to hear.

¡°I¡¯ve never actually met him and spoke with him. I admire some things that he¡¯s done for the world, changing us towards electric cars,¡± Wozniak said. But then things took a darker turn with Wozniak bringing up Musk¡¯s many failed promises regarding self-driving cars.

¡°I actually believed those things, and it¡¯s not even close to reality. And boy, if you want a study of AI (artificial intelligence) gone wrong and taking a lot of claims and trying to kill you every chance it can, get a Tesla,¡± the Apple co-founder said when speaking to CNN, as per a Forbes report.

He further argued that the (AI) software could end up killing the occupant.

When Steve Wozniak Accused Elon Musk Of Cheating Buyers

This is not the first time the Apple co-founder has criticised Elon Musk. Steve Wozniak alleged that the Tesla CEO has been stealing from his customers, himself included.

Wozniak had said earlier this year that he was deliberately misled over how well Tesla could drive itself, arguing that his own Tesla car was nowhere near what Musk claimed.

¡°It makes mistakes all the time,¡± he had said, as per a Fortune report. ¡°It¡¯s a horrible, frightening experience.¡± ¡°A lot of honesty disappears when you look at Elon Musk and Tesla,¡± he continued.

In particular, Wozniak had reportedly complained about spending tens of thousands of dollars on the latest self-driving technology since 2016, when Tesla first offered Full Self-Driving (FSD) as an unvalidated commercial product in beta.

This suggests the Apple co-founder bought into a promotional Tesla video that is now alleged to have been staged at Musk¡¯s request. ¡°They have robbed my family¡ªmyself and my wife¡ªof so much money I couldn¡¯t tell you, with things they said that we really believed would be real,¡± Wozniak said.

Just One Of Elon Musk's Many Unfulfilled Promises

¡°But you know, his (Musk's) real motivations inside¡ªis he really a purist of trying to clean the air and all that¡ªgets shadowed by a lot of other things. And he basically got a lot of money from myself for a car, I believed things he said. That a car would drive itself across the country by the end of 2016. Oh, I had to upgrade to that model. You know, $50,000 and then it wouldn¡¯t do anything,¡± Wozniak said.

The report mentioned that Elon Musk made a lot of promises about self-driving cars starting in 2014, with fully autonomous driving always just one or two years away. But we¡¯re still waiting on that to happen, despite Tesla rolling out something called ¡°Full Self-Driving¡± which is anything but.

"My guess as to when we would think it is safe for somebody to essentially fall asleep and wake up at their destination?" Musk had said in 2019. "Probably towards the end of next year." Even that has perhaps not happened yet, even after nearly four years.
