Ramesh Kunhikannan is the founder and managing director of Kaynes Technology India, based in Mysore. Known for its electronic manufacturing prowess, the 36-year-old company specializes in supplying electronic systems and design services to various sectors, including automotive, aerospace, medical, and defense industries. Kaynes's expertise is predominantly utilized in electronic control systems for electric vehicles (EVs), railway signaling, and more. Notably, the company played a significant role in India's Chandrayaan-3 mission by providing power systems for the lander and rover.

The 60-year-old billionaire earned his Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the National Institute of Engineering, Mysore. He established his company in 1988 as a contract electronics manufacturer. His spouse and the current company chairperson, Savitha Ramesh, joined the company in 1996. Presently, the company boasts a market capitalization of Rs Rs 17,156 Crore, with its stocks priced at around Rs 2700, according to Value Search.

After the mission's success, Kaynes Technology India saw a significant increase in its share price, rising from Rs 1719 in August 2022 to Rs 2683.85 presently. Kunhikannan currently owns 64 percent of the company, translating to approximately $1.1 billion (Rs 8.3 thousand crore) in net worth.
Record Number of Indians Make Forbes's List of World's Billionaires 2024
According to a report by First Post, for the first time, 200 Indians were included in Forbes's list of World's Billionaires for 2024. Mukesh Ambani emerged as the richest Indian on the list, boasting a net worth of Rs 9.6 lakh crore, followed by Gautam Adani, whose net worth amounted to Rs 7 lakh crore.
