'Kehna Kya Chahte Ho?', Sundar Pichai Recalls Aamir Khan's '3 Idiots' Scene During An Interview

Google CEO Sundar Pichai has been making a lot of headlines recently. From launching Gemini AI to laying off thousands of employees, a lot is happening in Google.

Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google and Alphabet, additionally holds a position on Alphabet's Board of Directors. He recently presided over the Google annual I/O developer event, where he unveiled a new iteration of Google's search engine featuring responses generated by artificial intelligence (AI).

Pichai sat down with content creator Varun Mayya for an interview at the Google HQ and their conversation flowed from the emergence of AI, India being the best market for new tech and popularity of FAANG jobs.

Sundar Pichai Quoted A Scene From Aamir Khan¡¯s 3 Idiots

Pichai made a memorable mention of the famous motor scene from Aamir Khan's "3 Idiots" while responding to a question from Mayya. While the complete interview is still pending publication, a clip shared on the content creator's Instagram has already generated amusement.

"I also asked Sundar what he thinks of wrapper startups. Coming soon. Make sure you subscribe to me on YouTube. You don¡¯t want to miss this," Varun Mayya wrote while sharing a snippet of his interview with Sundar Pichai on Instagram.

In the video, he inquired whether Pichai was aware that an entire industry in India is dedicated to assisting young Indians in cracking FAANG interviews. He then posed the question, "How do you transition out of the competitive exam mindset?"

"I think real success comes from understanding things in a deeper way," Pichai answers. He then explains his reply by mentioning the iconic 'what's a machine' scene from Aamir Khan's film 3 Idiots in which his character Rancho is asked about a motor, showing how truly understanding something is more valuable than just knowing its definition.

¡°Almost tempted to go back to the movie 3 Idiots or something like that. And like, there¡¯s a scene in there, when they ask Aamir Khan the definition of motor. And like there¡¯s a version which describes what a motor is. And there¡¯s a version where you actually understand what a motor is,¡± he added.
