Many Twitter (now X) users posted their grievances on the social networking platform, even tagging the official handle of the income tax department, @IncomeTaxIndia, which has 14 lakh followers.
Twitter Flooded With Tax Filers' Complaints
Despite all the complaints that flooded in over the last few days, the finance ministry did not extend the ITR deadline. Many users also tweeted, requesting an extension of the deadline.

How Many People Filed The ITR This Time?
Yesterday evening, just a few hours before the July 31 deadline got over, the income tax department tweeted, "Income Tax Department scales a new peak!
More than 6.50 crore ITRs have been filed so far (31st July), out of which about 36.91 lakh ITRs have been filed today till 6 p.m.!
We have witnessed more than 1.78 crore successful logins on the e-filing portal till 6 p.m. today."

The income tax department also replied to many users' complaints with possible resolutions, as many were rushing to file the ITR in the last hours of deadline day.
