In a detailed project report (DPR), the NCR Transport Corporation has proposed an ambitious airport-to-airport corridor, spanning 72 kilometers between Noida and Meerut. This corridor, aiming to integrate Rapid Rail and metro services, is a testament to the region's growing transportation infrastructure. With the Noida International Airport nearing completion in October and the Namo Bharat (rapid rail) line scheduled for June 2025, the stage is set for a transformative transportation initiative.
The Evolving Landscape of Transportation
The unified corridor is poised to encompass 25 stations, starting from Ghaziabad¡¯s Namo Bharat station and culminating at the Noida airport. Plans are also in place to incorporate an additional 13 stations, bringing the total count to 38. This expansion is contingent on projected footfall and population growth along the Yamuna Expressway, an area poised to become a data center and logistics hub. Notable stations in this corridor include:

Vision for 2030
The government-sanctioned corridor, designed to connect Noida Jewar Airport with Delhi and other regions of the NCR, is projected to reach completion by 2030. The establishment of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) link via Namo Bharat is contingent upon the commencement of the Delhi-Haryana line of Namo Bharat, stretching from Sarai Kale Khan to Gurgaon. Notably, Sarai Kale Khan serves as the initial station for the Delhi-Meerut corridor.
High-Speed Connectivity: The Future of Transit
To enhance the connection between Noida Airport and Indira Gandhi Airport in Delhi, a dedicated high-speed rapid rail system will be built. A loop will be constructed at the station to allow the high-speed rapid rail to access the airport without any stops. The high-speed rapid rail system will only serve specific stations. The goal is to complete the construction of a 72.2-kilometer-long elevated route connecting Ghaziabad and Noida Airport by 2031.
The total estimated cost of this project is around Rs 16,189 crore. The central government is expected to contribute about 20% of the funding, while the state government will contribute 50%, and Noida will contribute 30%. The projected ridership is expected to be 2.95 lakh by 2031, increasing to 5.23 lakh by 2041, 6.32 lakh by 2051, and eventually reaching 6.71 lakh by 2055.
The proposed airport-to-airport corridor between Noida and Meerut, integrating Rapid Rail and metro services, is a visionary initiative that promises to redefine the transportation landscape of the region. With the Noida airport nearing completion and the Namo Bharat line set to be operational by 2025, the corridor is poised to become a critical artery for seamless connectivity and economic growth.
