French Folks Are Planning To Poop In The Seine River To Send Out A Strong Message
Authorities have invested significant funds in the extensive cleanup of the 481-mile river (774 KM approx) leading up to the 2024 Olympic Games, aiming to ensure the safety of swimmers.
For the unversed, swimming in the river has been prohibited since 1923 due to excessive pollution levels, as reported by TIME magazine. Therefore, restoring the waterway to a pristine condition holds historical significance on multiple fronts.
Numerous officials have made attempts, albeit unsuccessful, to cleanse the Seine River over the years, aiming to provide city residents with a swimming spot during hot summers. Although there seems to be progress now, with expectations that the river will have 26 designated swimming areas by 2025, the French folks are not entirely pleased with these developments.

The movement is gaining momentum online, with people organizing ahead of the river's anticipated reopening. As Per Reports, Paris Has Already Spend Around 5 Billion Dollars Of Taxpayers Money On Prepping For The Olympics
Paris has reportedly spent over 5 billion dollars (Rs 41,000 crore approx) already and the expected expenditure will not exceed the 10-billion dollars mark.
The past two Olympic Games incurred significant financial losses. Rio 2016 is estimated to have cost $13.1 billion, resulting in a loss of around $2 billion. Similarly, the COVID-19-delayed Tokyo 2020 cost around $13 billion, nearly double the initial estimate, and resulted in a loss of at least $800 million, largely due to the absence of fans.
This summer's Games, expected to cost around €9 billion ($9.7 billion), are being closely monitored for budget adherence. With just 73 days until the opening ceremony, Paris organizers express confidence in staying within budget and recuperating every cent.
