Indians Are The Second Highest Visitors At Eiffel Tower
Coming back to the recent big announcement of UPI introduction in the iconic Eiffel Tower, here¡¯s how you can book tickets through UPI.
The process is simple. To book tickets, Indian tourists can use their UPI apps to scan the QR code generated on the merchant¡¯s website and initiate a payment. "While the Eiffel Tower is the first merchant to offer UPI payments in France, this service will soon be extended to other merchants in the tourism and retail space. This will make it significantly easier for touring Indians to remotely book hotels, museum visits, etc. for their stay in France," NPCI International said in a release this month.
"This announcement is of particular significance considering that Indian tourists rank as the second largest group of international visitors to the Eiffel Tower," it added.
For the unversed, the NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) owns and operates UPI. The organization prescribes rules, regulations, guidelines, and the respective roles, responsibilities and liabilities with respect to UPI.
Bhutan Was The First Country To Adopt India's UPI
About three years ago in July 2021, Bhutan had become the first country to adopt UPI standards for its QR deployment, and also the first country in India's immediate neighbourhood to accept mobile-based payments through the BHIM App.
