Audi is set to bring its second e-tron iteration to the roads for 2020 and for this, the German luxury car maker has confirmed the US pricing for the electric car. Essentially Audi¡¯s second all electric vehicle, the 2020 e-tron Sportback will arrive at US dealerships this summer.
For those unaware, the Audi e-tron Sportback was unveiled in November 2019 and carries more of a crossover stance than its predecessor - the e-tron SUV. In the US, the? new Audi e-tron Sportback will start retailing at $77,400. It will, however, be eligible for the full federal tax credit of up to $7,500, thus bringing its cost down to $69,900. More state credits and incentives may apply on the electric car.
In addition to the price, Audi has also hinted at the range estimates of the e-tron Sportback. It expects an EPA rating of 218 miles (351 km) through 91 percent of the battery capacity. This will be topped up by a 150 kW DC fast charging support for close to 100 km of range in 10 minutes. All this is made possible by a 95 kW battery pack placed underneath the passenger compartment.
For charging, Audi has tied up with Electrify America and will portray a live scenario of nearby charging stations to the occupants. Passengers of the car can know the network of charging points right from Audi¡¯s infotainment system and can also have an idea of the availability of charging points in such stations. Audi e-tron Sportback buyers get 1,000 kWh of Electrify America charging for the first four years along with the price of the EV.
As for what¡¯s inside, the e-tron Sportback promises a standard power of 355 horsepower, which can be amped up to 402 horsepower with the car¡¯s Boost Mode. The same mode also increased the acceleration to touch 0 to 100 kmph in 5.5 seconds.
Audi says that there will also be an Audi e-tron Sportback S, that will be a second faster than the time mentioned above, thanks to several performance improvements on the electric car.
Interestingly, the new Audi EV will be competing with the upcoming Polestar 2, the EV brainchild of Volvo. With the latter priced below the e-tron Sportback and claiming impressive performance numbers, it will be interesting to see how Audi uses its luxury standards to set the e-tron Sportback apart in the US market.
