You would think that Elon Musk might not appear on Joe Rogan Experience podcast again after his last stint on the show resulted in several investigations on the Tesla CEO, thanks to a giant joint that he lit on air. Well, Musk did leave the joint behind but could not really be stopped from doing yet another Joe Rogan podcast.
Musk provided limited updates on Tesla and for the most part, it is not a very pleasant update for Tesla fans. Apparently, the new Tesla Roadster is delayed.
Elon Musk confirmed that Tesla¡¯s pipeline is currently focused on two other Tesla vehicles - Tesla Semi truck and Tesla Cybertruck. Having unveiled the latter last year, Musk maintained that the Cybertruck will be launched sometime in late 2021.
This automatically pushes the launch of the latest model of Roadster to a probable date in 2022. Having debuted in 2017, this would mean a 5-year delay for those waiting on the all-electric supercar from the house of Tesla.
For those unaware, the original?Tesla Roadster was the first ever electric car sold by the company. With its debut in 2006, Elon Musk got the first official delivery of the car in 2008. After a spate of more road focused model, the new generation car was showcased in 2017 as a surprise by Elon Musk at a launch event.
The $250,000 Roadster is everything one can expect at the price. A 200-kilowatt-hour battery promising a near 1000 km range, 0 to 100 kmph in less than 2 seconds and a top speed of more than 400 kmph - that is what Tesla has promised on the new Roadster up until now.
Then again, the company even promised its launch date to be in 2020, with a security deposit of $50,000 from those interested. No update of it entering production has been out till now and with Musk¡¯s interview, it seems that the Roadster might just be as far off as it has been from the day it was showcased.
It was expected that Musk would talk more on Tesla on the Joe Rogan Experience. The Tesla CEO surprisingly abstained from sharing more insights into the company and instead focused on his other firms, like Neauralink and the Boring Company. You can check out the podcast in the video below.
