Ford had unveiled its first ever electric SUV under the Mustang moniker on November 18. With the vehicle being the first of its kind in both the aspects - electric and SUV, appeal for the Mustang Mach-E had dwindled as per the initial public reactions. Not anymore though, as Ford claims that the First Edition of the electric Mustang has already been sold out.
It took less than 10 days for the first edition of the all-electric SUV to be completely sold out in the US. Interestingly, the Mustang Mach-E will not be available in the country¡¯s market till 2020. That, however, did not deter enthusiasts from booking one for themselves for a refundable amount of $500. The car itself costs $59,500 (~Rs 42.6 lakh).
Ford confirmed on Wednesday that bookings for the First Edition Mustang Mach-E had been closed, as the model was also removed from the company¡¯s website listing. While the auto maker has not revealed the exact number of units booked, it had earlier hinted at a 50,000 units cap within the first year of production citing limited battery availability.?
Other variants of the model are still up for grabs. A premium variant, for instance, which will be rolled out post the First Edition in 2020 can still be booked on the company¡¯s website. Ford will also be coming up with a GT version of the Mach-E soon after. As and when these variants make their way to the markets, we can now be sure that they will have enough aficionados eyeing their availability. After all, it is not everyday you get to experience an electric Mustang in an SUV built.
