As Coronavirus hit regions across the world are ending their months-long lockdowns, people resume to travel for work and other purposes. There is, however, a new-found reluctance towards public transport and most of the commuters are preferring a personal mode of transport. Amongst this, electric bicycles have seen a surge in use in various metropolitan cities.
The ongoing times thus can be considered as perfect for launching a potent electric bicycle. Case in point, Specialized has launched its new Turbo Vado SL e-bike, targeted for urban riders and commuters.
It is not just another e-bike launch. The company claims that ¡°No other e-bike has range, power, and ride quality like this, let alone at a weight that¡¯s light enough to carry.¡± Specialized has used its latest e-bike battery and hub-motor technology on it and with that the e-bike does impress on numbers too.
Specialized Turbo Vado SL appoints Specialized's SL 1.1 (240 W) motor that comes with three assistance modes, including eco, sport, and turbo mode. It is backed by a 320 Wh battery that promises a range of 130 km on a single charge. The same can be extended by another 65 km through an additional 160 Wh battery that is optional. That's more than some electric scooters being sold in India.
The electric bicycle promises rider amplification through its pedal-assistance technology by as much as 2X, up to a speed of 45 kmph. Meaning the e-bike¡¯s motor will amplify the speed achieved by the rider by 2X up to the mentioned limit.
What also helps with the agility of the e-bike is its lightweight frame made of E5 Aluminum. The Turbo Vado SL weighs less than 15 kg, thus reducing the effort required to move, as well as chances brake and chain component wear. Being lighter than most of its competitors, Specialized Turbo Vado SL is also easy to carry up and down stairways to home or office.
Other features on the Specialized Turbo Vado SL include Bluetooth?connectivity, in-frame lights both at the front and the rear, Specialized Future Shock 1.5 with 20mm of bump-absorption as well as high-volume tyres for enhanced ride quality and traction.?
Specialized Turbo Vado SL will be available four sizes (small, medium, large and extra-large), in two trims - 4.0 or 5.0, priced at ?2,499 (~Rs 2.3 lakh) and ?3,299 (~Rs 3 lakh) respectively.
